Day One.
The Jerry Andrus Lecture
Above and on the left Jerry Andrus performs his "Zone Zero" for the
opening night crowd while on the right he describes his ingenious
idea of what many have started to call reverse engineering.
Appropriate for a person whose occupation used to be engineer.
The idea is to name a magic effect and then come up with a routine to
go along with the name. Jerry’s list was in the thousands of names.
If you have an idea for a new effect, routine, or slight you may try
contacting Jerry. He just might have the name listed in his book
or could possible come up with a name for you.
Jerry's production of a large rubber ball from under a silk scarf was
no less than genious. The ball seemed to simply grow under the scarf.
In my opinion it was as close to real magic as you can get.
Above Jerry can be seen performing the balls and tubes on the left and on the right a repeat performance of the ball from scarf.
Jerry concluded the magic portion of his lecture by performing some of his world famous card work. Including the "Sidewinder Shift" and the
Now for some real fun. Jerry's opticle illusions.
First up was the "Trizonal Space Warper" as seen above and on the left. This is an item that was properly named because it succeded in warping the brains of all present. And if the "Trizonal Space Warper" wasn't enough Jerry produced one opticle illusion after another. The two nuts in the picture on the right, with Jerry, look to be three dimensional. Its one of Jerry's illusions. They are actually flat pictures designed to look three dimensional. Just when you thought the end was at hand Jerry produced an even more mind bending illusion. Many in attendance told me later that it was the most fun that they had had in years. I concur!!!!!!!!!!!
Day One.
The Evening Close-Up Show
The MC for the close-up show was Fox Ring club member Kae Capman. In the photo above Kae is introducing another Fox Ring club member Tom Kracker. Tom is from Ohio and made the trip to Michigan not just to compete in the competitions but to see the great lectures and show performers that we had scheduled.
Above Mike Powers from Indiana is seen WOWING the crowd with some of his unique card work.
Next up was Allan Ackerman who brought the house down. Or was that the tornado that flew over during the show? Even with a tornado above the show went on and it was Allan who BLEW the crowd away.
GRRRRRRRRRREAT job Allan!!!!!!!!
